Forest Park

Heartland believes that loving and supporting the schools in our neighborhood and city is an important way we can demonstrate the transformative power of the Good News. We want to be a church that doesn’t just talk about loving our community, but actively shows up and serves it.

Here’s how we’re doing that:

1. Creating a Village of Support
   In partnership with Love Fort Wayne, we have helped create a Village of Support around Forest Park Elementary. This brings together churches, businesses, city leaders, neighbors, and community members to work together to meet the needs of the school. As part of this initiative, our Kids Pastor serves as the School Champion for Forest Park, helping build relationships, identify needs, and lead the way in creating positive change within the school.

2. Loving Staff

   We believe that when the staff is well cared for that leads to students who are loved and cared for. Through rhythms of prayer, notes of encouragement, coffee and meals, and meeting the practical needs we believe teachers and staff are better able to care for students from an overflow.

3. Investing in Students and Families
   We look for practical ways to support students and families in the school community. We have donated school supplies, provided fun treats and prizes for students, and provided Thanksgiving meals for families who are in need.

4. Supporting the PTA
   We come alongside the PTA by helping with events, providing volunteers, and supporting the work they are doing to make a difference for students and families.

5. Caring for the School Grounds
   We regularly serve by helping clean up and care for the school grounds, creating a welcoming environment for students, families, and staff.
