White Knuckler

It was a blustery, cold day, and I found myself needing a few necessities from the store. I bundled up myself and my toddler to prepare him for a trek to the grocery store. Over the past few months, I had begun to notice that my tires were becoming more and more bare, and before I knew it, winter had arrived and my car was not prepared. However, I needed to get to the store, so bare tires and all, Matthew and I began our errand.

As we began our snowy journey to the store, I entered the left turn lane, and to my surprise, I began slipping and sliding unable to stop my vehicle. My brakes locked up as I tried to stop, and I quickly came to realize that I was headed straight for the car in front of me that was waiting to turn. Out of desperation I cried out, “JESUS, HELP!”

As I began bracing myself for impact, my car straightened out, the tires grabbed the pavement and my car miraculously began moving around the car that was in front of me. Somehow I was able to turn the corner safely. There was no oncoming traffic and I was safe.

As I continued my journey to the store, my hands were shaking, and my mind could not believe what had just transpired.

When I finally arrived at the store, I parked and turned in my seat to face my son.

“Matthew! Do you know what just happened?”

He looked at me with innocent eyes and asked in his sweet, little toddler voice, “What happened, Mommy?”

“We were going to CRASH into that car, and then Jesus helped me and moved the car around the corner to safety!”

Matthew replied as best as a toddler strapped in a car seat and bundled up for winter could, “Wow, Mommy!”

Thankfully, the story does not end there. God used the bald tires and snowy road to reveal to me a profound and deeply important characteristic of Himself. He not only has an answer to every problem, but He will always provide a way through.

The Lord cares deeply about the big and small things in each of our lives. All I had to do was call out to him, “Jesus, HELP!” and He did.

“In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened; he saved me from all my troubles” (Psalm 34:6 NLT).

“I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me and heard my cry. He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; many...
