To Know Him – a poem for Good Friday

The flesh of the Word,
God among man,
a stranger to those He made.
Would I know You if I saw You?

Lamb of God,
He who baptised with the Holy Spirit.
You called us Children of God,
but would we know You if we saw You?

God made Him known to us.
Jesus is known to us.
We know You because we saw You.

For no power of Hell,
No scheme of man,
Will ever pluck us from His hand.
